T O P I C R E V I E WcharlieEver since I was very little I wanted to be a Forensic Psychologist. Murder, crime and serial killers, specifically, had me mesmerized! As life usually does what it wants, I have kinda gotten sidetracked....to say the least! lolI DID study Psychology for a few years but that came back to back to back to back of 3 years in chef's school, working in bars and some time studying math and economics. I was just SO tired of studying! Completely burnt out.Fast forward a decade and a half and that desire is still burning strong but I don't know if I have the energy or even capable of sustaining the energy needed to start over at the age of 36. Do I?? Logically thinking I am leaning towards "no"..At what point in time will I be done?? How much money are we talking here? It feels like I'll be 68 when all is said and done.So what would a possible optional route be to silence my need do investigate the darker sides of humanity??I'll add my chart (can't upload it)Asc conj Mars (1H, 1 degree) - VirgoSun, Venus, Mercury, Ceres - Cancer (decan 2) 11HMoon - Cap 5HSaturn - Leo 11HUranus, NN - Scorpio 3HPluto - Libra 2H (sq moon and sun)Jupiter on Midheaven in Taurus (9H)Pallas, Vesta conj - Gemini 10Hstarmoon quote:Originally posted by charlie:Ever since I was very little I wanted to be a Forensic Psychologist. I haven't even considered ANY of those professions but will most definitely look into them!! charlie quote:Originally posted by starmoon: well, i'm 37 and i just started school again for another masters degree, this time in psychology. don't let your age play a role - look at going back to school more in terms of personal fulfillment at this point more than 'oh my gosh i won't be a X until i'm 45 at least.' what about private investigation? that field would allow you to be independant, and requires far less schooling than forensic science, pysch., etc. you might even explore something in the legal field - paralegals investigate -maybe a criminal paralegal? your need might even be satisfied within the social services field - as a case worker, looking at various files of families who find themselves in need of counseling/assistance. if you're not afraid, then perhaps something in a county jail? or working as a parole officer? all of these things are minimal in terms of schooling and would make use of the psych skills you already haveWOW STARMOON!!! If you know something is really your passion and you have no doubts, then yeah I think age shouldn't really factor into it where your career is concerned, that even if it takes forever, you should go for it.Notice I said if it's your absolute passion. Because I agree, once you get past a certain age you don't really have a whole lotta time to waste. I'm 31 now and I'm heading back to college soon myself and getting a degree (finally). I thought about medicine, and veterinary medicine, and even medical science, then did the math and realized that I'd be kinda old by the time I finished the training - *if*, I finished the training. In the end I ultimately decided to go with something else because, as much as medicine fascinates me, I'm just not willing at this point in my life to devote that kind of time to it - I had to admit to myself that it's a strong interest, but not a passion.I'm going back to major in English and from there, on to Library Science training, so I can be a librarian. It's a job in an environment that I already love, and I like to read and write, so it's a no-brainer. Plus, I wouldn't be old enough for the discount at Old Country Buffet by the time I got out of school. *rimshot*charlie quote:Originally posted by StacyLewis: I agree and disagree with this.
